Clinton Elvis Vaughan. "Sonny", 81, went to be with The Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 1, 2013. He was born on November 18, 1931 in Midland, TX to Clint Elgin and Ruby Iona Bell Vaughan. He graduated from Sul Ross University where he met the love of his life Sylvia Rita Bennett Vaughan. They married on January 28, 1951. Clint was a dedicated, lifetime member and served as President of the Breakfast Optimist Club of Las Cruces. He was employed by White Stores, Inc. in both Midland, TX and Las Cruces. He then became owner/operator of The Furniture Warehouse, and finished his career as a furniture wholesaler. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, watching football and basketball, and wouldn't miss an afternoon of coffee with his friends. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and volunteered at Saint Vincent DePaul and Tresco for many years. Clint is survived by his spouse, Sylvia Vaughan, seven children; Rita and Lyle Hutchins, Laura and Matt Bridges, Lawrence and Marilyn Vaughan, Scott and Debbie Vaughan, Maureen Greene, Eleanor and Rick Manasco, Michael Vaughan, sixteen grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Clint Elgin and Ruby Iona Bell Vaughan, sisters Joyce Nix and Wilma Stapp, and twin great grandchildren. Services will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1327 N. Miranda. There will be a viewing on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 6:00 pm with a Rosary immediately following. The funeral will be held Wednesday January 9, 2013 at 10:00am with a burial immediately following at Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers: Galen Hutchins, Parker Greene, Cayman Greene, Austin Greene, Noah Vaughan, Ty Vaughan, Ryan Vaughan Honorary Pallbearers: Richard Larsen, Jim Morrison, Gene Peugh, Richard Hanson, Stephen Lee Stumberg, Jack Stroman, Don Nix, Shaw Skinner, Nelson Skinner, and Walter Skinner.
