It is with broken hearts that we share the passing of Concepcion Songkip Garcia, affectionately known to her friends and family as Minda. She was called to our lord on May 8, 2023, at the young age of 70. Minda was born in the province of Mindanao on the island of Manilla, Philippines. She was the 3rd oldest of 9 brothers and sisters born to Leonardo and Mercedes Songkip on December 1, 1952. She was known as a people gatherer, and it can confidently be said that she touched and changed many of the lives she came into. Believing that no one should suffer needlessly, she did all in her power to ensure everyone was okay and fed. At 4'8, she was formidable. Her courage made you think she was 10 ft tall.

She enjoyed gardening, traveling, eating, and playing cards with the girls. A member of the Fil-Am (Filipino Americans), she tried to stay involved with her culture to preserve her history and share it with others. She has a fantastic group of friends that could be considered more like sisters. Together they cultivated relationships that stand the test of time. And that is rare to find in this day and age.

She is survived by her Husband of 42 years, Eulogio Garcia, and her children, Rachel, her Husband James, and their children Sebastian and fianc Alaska, and Isaiah; John and his wife Ashley; April and her Husband Bryan and their child Michael, and Mama's mini-me, Andrea, with her partner Antonio. She is also survived by her remaining brothers and sisters and her first Husband, Harold Barnett, with whom she has maintained a friendship to this day. Additionally, the many souls she took under her wing and adopted and loved like her own.

John Barnett, James Narvaez, Bryan Arnold, Sebastian Narvaez, Isaiah Narvaez, and Michael Garcia will be pallbearers.

Momma was welcomed to heaven by her parents, two brothers, a sister, and her eldest grandson, Baby James Narvaez.

Funeral services will be provided at Our Lady of Purification on Thursday, May 11, 2023 viewing will begin at 10:30 am. The Rosary will begin at 11:30 am, followed by Mass.
