Corinne H. Duever

Corinne H. Duever, 91, of Las Cruces, died Monday, Feb. 23, 2009. She was born July 9, 1917 in St. Louis, MO to Herman and Concordia Kuenker. As a graduate of the Kroeger School of Music in St. Louis, she enjoyed playing and teaching piano. After her marriage to a young Lutheran minister in 1940 she enjoyed being a pastor's wife, playing the organ and directing the choir. After her husband's death in 1961, she worked for the Lutheran Layman's League as Tape Editor for the Lutheran Hour until retirement in 1985. Moving to Las Cruces in 1994, she was a faithful member of Mission Lutheran Church spending her time volunteering at the Branigan Center, and visiting those confined to nursing homes and assisted living centers. She is survived by her sons Douglas Duever and wife Patricia of Las Cruces, NM; Clifford Duever and wife Jane of St. Louis, MO and Curtis Duever and wife Teri of Corvallis, OR; daughter Constance Duever and husband Rev. Paul Schmiege of New York City, NY; grandchildren Scott, Deborah, Casey, Kyle, Alison, Stephanie and Philip and by her great-grandchildren Emily, Madeline, Rylie and Lucas. Corinne was preceded in death by her loving husband Rev. Fred Duever in 1961. Memorial Services are at 4 PM on Monday, March 2, 2009 at Mission Lutheran Church with Pastor Robert Carabotta officiating. Mrs. Duever's cremains will be laid to rest with her husband at the Concordia Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
