Cruz R. Parra, 84, our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, godmother, comadre, peacefully left this world surrounded by her family at home on January 30, 2022, to join her heavenly family in our Lord's presence. Cruz was born on May 2, 1937, in El Porvenir, Chihuahua, Mexico to Jesus Santana Rios and Ana Morales Rios. She immigrated to the U.S. with her family in 1954 and settled in Brazito, NM. Soon after she met who would be her lifelong companion and husband, Jose Ines Parra. They were married on August 17, 1957, and moved to Stahmann Farms. Besides being a homemaker and mother to seven children, Cruz also worked at the Stahmann Farms pecan plant, at the L'Eggs factory and as a field laborer - all at which she made lifetime friendships. Cruz was a faithful Christian and a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish.



Cruz I survived by her daughters Ramona Parra (Luis M Arellano, Sr.) and Cristina Parra-Zaragoza (Juan Zaragoza, rip); her sons Antonio R Parra (Tara Murray-Parra) and Esteban R Parra (Kimberly Wendorf-Parra); and her son-in-law John Pineda (Maria Inez Parra-Pineda, rip). Also surviving are her grandchildren: Victor Brown (Courtney Chadwick); Karisa, Liam and Aidan Parra; Arianna Pineda; Alina Fassa, Juan Zaragoza; Luis Jr., Armando, Angel, Michelle and Teresa Arellano; John and Daniel Pineda; and her great-grandchildren Natalie, Jordyn and Cameron Brown; Alexys and Isabel Arellano; and Tara Chadwick. Surviving too are her sisters Socorro Silva (Sotero Silva, rip) and Ramona Najera (Rafael Najera, rip), her brother Antonio Rios (Adela), and many nieces, nephews and God-children.



Cruz was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved sons Victor and Mauricio Parra, and her baby girl Maria Inez Parra-Pineda; and her brothers Pablo and Marcelo Rios.



Pallbearers: Antonio R Parra, Esteban R Parra, Victor Brown, Juan Zaragoza, Liam Parra and Aidan Parra. Honorary Pallbearers: John Pineda, Luis Arellano Sr, Karisa Parra, Arianna Pineda, and Alina Fassa.



The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of Cruz's caregivers: Lupe, Marie and Marie, Aide, Elva, Nati, Ricarda. Your assistance and friendship meant the world to her.



Visitation for Cruz will be at Getz Funeral Home, 1410 E Bowman Ave, on Monday, February 7th, from 5-7 pm, with the rosary recited at 7:00 pm. The Holy Mass will be on Tuesday, February 8th at 1 pm at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral, 1240 S Espina St. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery on 100 N Espina St. A gathering will be held after the burial at the Elks Club, 3000 Elks Dr.
