Cruz R. Sanchez, 83 of Radium Springs, NM died Sunday September 11, 2011. He was born to Cruz and Otili Sanchez on May 27, 1928 in Tortugas, NM. Cruz honorably served his country with the U.S. Army during The Korean Conflict and later Retiring from the U.S. Army Reserves. When not defending his country, Cruz worked as a heavy machine operator at White Sands Test Facility, retiring after over 35 years of faithful service. He enjoyed hunting and fishing trips with his family and friends, watching boxing, football and old western movies, but his treasured time was having his family by his side. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Cruz is survived by his wife of 57 years Priscilla Sanchez of the Family Home, sons, Cruz Sanchez Jr. (wife Yoli) of Los Lunas, NM, Tony Sanchez of El Paso, TX, Marcos Sanchez (wife Margaret) of Las Cruces, NM, Robert Sanchez (wife Sarah) of Huntsville, AL, daughters, Estelle Sanchez, Sandra Porras (husband Jesse), Yolanda Apodaca (husband Richard) all of Las Cruces, NM and Casey Aponte (husband Mickey) of Albuquerque, NM, grandchildren, Jason, Vanessa, Adrianna, Armando, Candace, Cyera, Christian, Crystal, Oralia "Lali", Cruzito, Denise, Ernest, Orlando, Joe, Jessica, David and Tony, great-grandchildren, Aaron, Priscilla, Emera, George, Jessica, Cristal, Nathaniel, Devyn, Josiah, and Ernest, sisters Hortencia, Frances, Gloria and Mary, brothers, Gilbert, Alex, Richard, Cruz, Ramon, Lorenzo, Manuel and Ruben. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Josie, Concha and Jesus. A Prayer vigil will be held at 9:45 AM on Wednesday September 14, 2011 at our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Tortugas, NM with funeral mass following at 10:30 AM with Fr.
