Daisy Aileene Wiley Burkett was born to James Alexander Wiley and Daisy Winfield Grim in Castle Rock, Colorado on November 16th, 1917, and died on December 5th, 2020, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She married Reinhold Erwin Burkett, of New Braunfels, Texas, a pilot, and career Air Force officer, in Reno, Nevada, February 7th, 1942. Aileene is survived by one of her three sons, Ronald, and a daughter, Carole, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Her husband, Reinhold, and sons Phillip and Michael predeceased her. She took great pride in being a military wife and a military mother. Two of her sons, Ron and Michael pursued careers in the Army and a third, Phil, was a Vietnam veteran. Two of her daughters-in-law, Marlys and Diane were veterans. One of her great grandsons, Win, is currently serving in the Near East. She moved her family over ten times to various stateside and overseas bases. She enjoyed traveling, and volunteering, was a voracious reader, accomplished painter and played winning bridge till well over her 100 th birthday. She will be interred with her husband, two sons, a brother, and many friends at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas. She lived a good life and will be missed.
