Damien O. Avelar, 21 of La Mesa, NM died November 23, 2006. He was born February 26, 1985 in El Paso, TX to Ray and Bonnie Avelar. Damien was employed at Anthony Elementary as a Physical Education Assistant. He had a great love for teaching and watching children excel and it was his dream to coach. He coached the "Young Guns", loved the Dodgers, the Cowboys, and Michael Jordan, and enjoyed his music. He would work on his car for hours, and would always go and visit his friends at his old job at the Big 8. Damien was the only grandson and will be truly missed by his loving family and friends. He is survived by his parent Ray and Bonnie Lechuga Avelar, and one sister Heather Y. Avelar. He is also survived by his paternal grandmother Antonia Avelar and maternal grandparents Luis and Concha Lechuga; aunts Sylvia L. Perez, Virginia Calamia Lechuga, Margie Avelar, Andrea Avelar, Josie Avelar, Yolanda Avelar, and Carmen Avelar; uncles Johnny Lechuga, Paul Perez, Luis Avelar, Juan Avelar, Speedy Avelar, Tomas Avelar and many cousins Trish Perez, Monica Velasco, Jennifer Perez, his "little buddy" Devin Perez, Mario Velasco Jr., Mariah Velasco, Micheal Avelar, Tomas Avelar Jr., Vidal Bravo Jr., Orlando Avelar, George Avelar, Toni Cardenas, Yvonne Avelar and many other relatives. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Juan Avelar. A visitation will take place from 5:30
