Daniel Alois Dolan of Las Cruces, New Mexico passed away on August 2, 2012. He was born April 22, 1951 in Menominee, Michigan to Daniel T. Dolan and Ruth Dohr Dolan. The Dolan family, including Paul, Susan, Dan, Kevin, Patrick and Tim frequently moved while their father served in the US Air Force. They lived in Peshtigo, Wisconsin; San Antonio, Texas; Sculthorpe, England; Lincoln, Nebraska; Mountain Home, Idaho and Papillion, Nebraska. Dan graduated from Nebraska's Papillion High School in 1969. He attended Marquette University on an Army ROTC scholarship and graduated with a BA in philosophy in 1973 and a JD from Marquette Law School in 1975. Later that year, he married Linda Simatovich of Illinois. Dan graduated from Army JAG Corps in Charlottesville, VA and served as a Captain. He was called to work as both a prosecutor and as defense counsel. Dan and Linda had their first child, Kathryn Ruth, in 1977. After completing his commitment to the Army, Dan and his family moved to Las Cruces where he was admitted to the New Mexico Bar. Matthew Anthony was born in 1980. Dan practiced law for 30 years, serving as general counsel for the Catholic Diocese of Las Cruces. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed golfing, playing cards, going to the movies and reading. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Linda and their children, daughter Katie and her husband Matt Powers, and son Matt and his wife Christina. He is also survived by his siblings Paul (Geri), Susan (Jim), Kevin (Mary Jane), Patrick (Susanne), and Tim (Faye) as well as 16 nieces and nephews. The viewing for Dan will be held at Getz Funeral Home at 1410 East Bowman Avenue, Las Cruces on Monday, August 6th from 5 to 7 p.m. with the rosary at 7 p.m. On Tuesday, August 7th at 10 a.m. the funeral mass will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church at 1327 North Miranda Street, Las Cruces. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Las Cruces Catholic School. PDF Printable Version
