Darrell "Dee" Angel passed away on June 22, 2022, at the age of 77. He was born on December 28, 1944 in El Reno, OK, then moved to Fort Smith, AR. There he met his wife in grade school. Darrell "Dee" Angel passed away on June 22, 2022, at the age of 77. He was born on December 28, 1944 in El Reno, OK, then moved to Fort Smith, AR. There he met his wife in grade school. They later married in 1965. Dee is survived by his loving wife Patricia Angel of 57 years, beautiful children Angie Jackson and her husband Donald Jackson, son Jim Angel and companion Cathy Pacheco, and amazing grandchildren Savanna Angel and Summer Angel. Darrell served in the Navy for 20 years, where he went to the first computer school that the Navy had and worked in communications. During this time his children were born, and he spent as much time as he could with his family. In leaving the Navy in 1982, he moved to Las Cruces, NM, and worked for 15 years at SpaceCom, also known as TDRSS and other names. Here he helped launch the first TDRS satellite, which also communicated with the Space Shuttle. In 1990 he started his own business "Angel's Photography". Dee loved taking pictures and loved being with all the kids and families. In his last 20 years, he was close to the VFW 10124 where he was the Commander for over 5 years. He always enjoyed seeing the comrades and sharing stories with them. The family wants to thank the VFW for being there with Dee his last few months. A celebration of life will be held at the VFW Post 10124 at 709 South Valley Drive, Las Cruces, NM this Sunday, July 3, 2022, beginning at 2:00 pm. Arrangements by Getz Funeral Home, 1410 E.
