David E. Romero, 67, of Las Cruces, died Tuesday, July 19, 2011. He was born July 12, 1944 in Mesilla Park, NM to Anastacio and Amelia Estrada Romero. David was veteran of the US Army where he served our country honorably; he also was retired from the Las Cruces Fire Dept. with more than 25 years of faithful service. David E. Romero, 67, of Las Cruces, died Tuesday, July 19, 2011. He was born July 12, 1944 in Mesilla Park, NM to Anastacio and Amelia Estrada Romero. David was veteran of the US Army where he served our country honorably; he also was retired from the Las Cruces Fire Dept. with more than 25 years of faithful service. He was a member of the Piro-Manso-Tiwa Tribe and a member of St. Albert the Great Newman Center. He enjoyed the outdoors but his passion was for his family. David will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Patsy Romero of the family home; sons Felipe Romero, Abrahan Romero and Matthew Romero and companion Tina Saenz all of Las Cruces; daughters Angela Romero-De Paz and husband Simon of Commerce City, Co., Trisha Arreola and husband Frank and Adela Pando and husband Rene all of Las Cruces; sisters Jennie Limon and husband Gilbert and Rennette Apodaca all of Las Cruces. Also surviving him are his grandchildren Amanda, Diego, Kateri, Mario, Lupita and Evan, nieces, nephews and cousins. David was preceded in death by his parents. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Friday, July 22, 2011 at Getz Funeral home where a prayer vigil will follow at 7 pm with his nephew Ronnie Limon officiating. David's funeral mass to celebrate his life will be at 10 am on Saturday, July 23, 2011 St. Albert the Great Newman Center with Fr. Mitch Dowalgo officiating. The US Army, the El Perro Diablos will provide military honors. The Piro-Manso-Tiwa's will also do their religious ceremonies. The honor of being a pallbearer goes to family and friends.
