David F. Herrera, 85, lifelong resident of Mesquite, NM died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010. He was born April 2, 1925 in Brazito, NM to Felipe and Maria Marquez Herrera. David was a member of Del Valle Methodist Church in Mesquite. David F. Herrera, 85, lifelong resident of Mesquite, NM died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010. He was born April 2, 1925 in Brazito, NM to Felipe and Maria Marquez Herrera. David was a member of Del Valle Methodist Church in Mesquite. He was a retired farmer, a former Manager of the Santo Tomas Produce and Santo Tomas Gin, part owner of the Valley View Dairy and a County Commissioner during the early 1960's. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing but his passion was for his family. He will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his four children Ernest Herrera and wife Irma, Arturo Herrera and wife Christina, Andy Herrera and wife Mina and Belinda Gonzales-Soto and husband Raul all of Mesquite; grandchildren Caroline, Stephanie, Debbie, Shawn, Ernest, Omar, Estevan and Davina and by his great-grandchildren Jasmyn, Jonah, Ashlyn, Omar, Joseph, Shantay, Shantell and Dominic; brother Juan Felipe Herrera and sisters Sara Chavez and Concha Contreras. A celebration of David's life will be at 10 AM on Tuesday Sept. 7, 2010 at Getz Funeral Home with Pastor's Conrado Soltero and Raul Dominguez officiating. Mr. Herrera will be laid to rest next to the love of his life Maria Luisa Herrera at Missionary Ridge Cemetery in Mesquite, NM. Per David's request the honor of being a pallbearer is given to Belinda Gonzales-Soto, Caroline Olivas, Stephanie Reyes, Mina Herrera, Irma Herrera and Davina Herrera Nevarez and honorary pallbearers Jasmyn and Ashlyn.
