David F. Holguin, Jr. 64, beloved husband, father and "Ito" entered eternal rest on January 1, 2007. David was born October 10, 1942 in El Paso, Texas to David and Beatriz Holguin. He was a longtime Garfield resident, farmer and businessman who enjoyed working the land. David F. Holguin, Jr. 64, beloved husband, father and "Ito" entered eternal rest on January 1, 2007. David was born October 10, 1942 in El Paso, Texas to David and Beatriz Holguin. He was a longtime Garfield resident, farmer and businessman who enjoyed working the land. He was very active in his community serving as a school board member for 16 years for the Hatch Valley Public School District, four years as a county commissioner for Dona Ana County, and was involved in various committees and activities throughout Dona Ana County. He was one of the first Hispanics to receive the FFA American Farmer Degree and was a member of San Isidro Catholic Church. David was very proud of his family. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, he was an extraordinary and great man. He is survived by his loving wife, Dolores; four daughters, Beatrice Avalos and her husband Henry of Garfield, NM, Bernadette Acosta and her husband Jerry of Garfield, NM, Angelique Osburn and her husband Tom of Las Cruces, NM and Mary Agnes McAllister and her husband Tim of Las Cruces, NM. One son David Michael Holguin and his wife Brandy of Garfield, NM; also surviving David are his mother Juana V. A gathering of family and friends will be from 6 to 7 PM on Friday, January 5, 2007 at San Isidro Catholic Church in Garfield, with the Prayer Vigil to follow at 7 PM. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 10 AM on Saturday, January 6, 2007 also at San Isidro Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Hatch, NM. Officiating will be Fr. Adrian Luevano Carrillo. Serving, as pallbearers will be his son David Michael Holguin, his grandson, Enrique Avalos, and his four sons in law, Henry Avalos, Jerry Acosta, Tom Osburn, and Tim McAllister.
