David Mccoll Rymer

David McColl Rymer, 76, was called to the Lord on 8/8/08. He was born in the Bronx, NYC on May 12, 1932 to H. Russell and Alice Rymer. Dave graduated from Denison University in Granville, Ohio where he met the one true love of his life, Marjorie Lois Vandaveer. They were married on July 3, 1954 and were blessed with 54 years of marriage. After graduating from Denison, he served in the US Army 3rd Cavalry and 11th Armored Cavalry for two years. Like his father, Dave became a YMCA Director. He moved to Denver, Colorado where he attended the University of Denver and where his first son Daniel was born; then he moved to Winter Park, Florida where his next son Robert was born. He then moved his family to Minneapolis, Minnesota and then to Dixon, Illinois where his daughter Jennifer was born. From there he lived with his family in Kansas City, Missouri, and then Adrian, Michigan. In 1975 the family moved to Pocatello, Idaho. Finally, he moved to Roswell, New Mexico where he retired from the YMCA after 28 years of serving as Executive Director in the previously listed cities. Dave and Marje then bought a wholesale packaging company, R Packaging, in Roswell, New Mexico. They ran this company as a team for thirteen years. Dave and Marje moved to Las Cruces 3 years ago. Dave enjoyed volunteering at Mt. View Medical Center and being an active member in his homeowners' association. Dave was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Rymer; his son Daniel McColl Rymer and his wife Cherie and their children Danielle Cooley (husband Darren) and Jacob Rymer, who live in Pocatello, Idaho; his son, Robert V. Rymer and his wife Amy and their children Dawna Eppers, Jared and Valeri Rymer who live in Roswell, NM; and his daughter Jennifer Huckabee and her husband Jeff and their children Katie, Becky, Ellie and Zoey who live in Las Cruces, NM. He is also survived by his older brother Richard Rymer and his wife Elizabeth and their children Nancy Queenan and Russell Rymer. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at St. Paul United Methodist Church at 11:00 A.M. An additional service and his ashes will be laid to rest on Friday, August 15, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at First United Methodist Church in Roswell, NM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church, the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, Colorado, or to a favorite charity. PDF Printable Version
