David P. Florez, 59, lifelong resident of Dona Ana, NM died Sunday, June 29, 2008. He was born Nov. 8, 1948 in Dona Ana, NM to Ramon and Ester Perez Florez. David was a veteran of the US Army where he served his country honorably for two tours of duty during the Vietnam Era, while in the service he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Parachute Badg...
David P. Florez, 59, lifelong resident of Dona Ana, NM died Sunday, June 29, 2008. He was born Nov. 8, 1948 in Dona Ana, NM to Ramon and Ester Perez Florez. David was a veteran of the US Army where he served his country honorably for two tours of duty during the Vietnam Era, while in the service he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Parachute Badge, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He also was an engineer with the Helstf Facility at WSMR with more than 30 years of faithful service. David was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, boxing, working on cars, a die-hard Raiders fan, but his passion was for motorcycles. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends who knew and loved him. He is survived by his daughter Shannon Florez of Las Cruces; brothers Valentin, Ray, Jerry and wife "Gen," Andy, Arthur "Tortilla" and George and wife Rose all of Dona Ana, NM; grandchildren Dominique and Destiny and by many nieces, nephews and cousins. David was preceded in death by his parents, sister Frances Zuniga and by his grandparents. A visitation will be held from 6 to 7 PM on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Our Lady of Purification Catholic Church in Dona Ana where a prayer vigil will follow at 7 PM. A funeral mass to celebrate his life will be at 10 AM on Friday, July 4, 2008 also at Our Lady of Purification with Fr. Miguel Macaya officiating. Burial of David's cremains will be held privately for the family at a later date. Pallbearers will be member of David's family and friends.
