Dean F. Harmeson

August 20, 1942 — June 7, 2006

Dean Fredrick Harmeson, 63, United States Navy Machinery Repairman Chief Petty Officer, Retired of Las Cruces, died Wednesday June 7, 2006, at La Posada. Known as "Chief" among his friends, his strength and courage is survived by his loving wife Nancy S. Harmeson, and children Ross F. Harmeson of Las Cruces, New Mexico; Deana L. Harmeson Toft and husband Larry of Sacramento, California; and Scott C. Harmeson and wife Debbie of Janesville, Wisconsin. His seven grandchildren: Katie, Megan, Ross Jacob, Breanna, Cayley, Lyndsey and Gracie will remember their grandfather as "Papa", "Grampy", and "Grandpa". He is also survived by brother Kent Harmeson and wife Mary Jane; sisters Marsha Fuller and Nancy Burkhardt and husband Robert, all of Indiana; Bother-in-laws Steven Hines and wife JoAnne of California; and William Hines and wife Betty of Florida. After proudly serving 23 years in the United States Navy and retiring honorably, Chief then went on to retire from Southern New Mexico Correctional Facility after 20 years. At his request, he will be cremated and laid to rest at a later date at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, California with full military honors performed by his beloved United States Navy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mesilla Valley Hospice in Dean's name. The family is grateful to Dr. William T.
