Debra Ann Woods

Debra Ann Pearson Woods of Las Cruces, New Mexico entered eternal life Monday, December 27, 2010 at Mountain View Regional Hospital. She was welcomed to heaven by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Debra was born August 14, 1959, in Lubbock, Texas to Anna Pearson Valentine and Willie Charles Pearson Sr. Debra united in Holy Matrimony to James F. Woods Sr. on November 4, 1983. Their union was one that epitomized true love, friendship, and togetherness. For over 25 years Debra was devoted in her marriage and raising her children. Together Debra and James took on the responsibility of raising James Jr., and James' younger siblings Clarence and Tedrick. Debra had an inner beauty as well as her outer beauty. Debra graduated from high school in Germany in 1976. She attended Marilyn University Branch at Heidelberg, Germany where she received an Associate's degree. She travelled to Alaska, Hawaii, and Korea before coming to White Sands Missile Range, NM. Later she received her Bachelor's degree in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix. Debra was employed at New Mexico State University and longtime former employee of El Paso Electric Company. Her faith led her to be a parishioner of Bethel Second Baptist Church where she was a dedicated member, Financial Secretary, Vice President of the Usher Board, and she participated in the Woman's Missionary Auxiliary. Debra was also the New Hope District Association Congress registrar, treasurer for the District Ushers, and Corresponding Secretary for the Parent Body. Debra is survived by her mother Anna Pearson Valentine of North Carolina, husband James F. Woods Sr., son James F. Woods Jr. (Loretta), grandchildren Devyn, Jaelyn, and Gavyn all of Las Cruces, brother Willie Charles Pearson Jr. (Sharon) of Georgia, uncle Timothy Pearson Sr. of Texas, brother-in-laws Tedrick Woods (Christina) of Arizona, Clarence Woods (Becky) of Las Cruces, sister-in-law Annette Woods of Las Cruces, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by father, Willie Charles Pearson Sr., brother, Henry L. Pearson, grandmother, Lardaty I. Zolliecoffer-Foreman, grandfather, Rudolph V. Foreman, great-grandmothers, Mary Idial-Echols and Lula Foreman. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at Second Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor Greg Arthur officiating. Interment will follow at Masonic Cemetery.
