Delbert Fulfer

August 14, 1931 — September 25, 2021

Delbert Lawrence Fulfer. 90, was born to Hershell and Opal Fulfer on August 14, 1931. He married his wife of 68 years, Phyllis June Swope, on April 18, 1953. He served in the Navy during the Korean war aboard the USS Luis Handcock destroyer ship until he received an honorable discharge in December 1954. He worked construction for Burn Construction Company for many years until he moved to Silver City, New Mexico, to work for the mine where he operated heavy equipment at the smelter until his retirement. He was able to indulge his love of horses while living in Silver City. He later moved with Phyllis back to Las Cruces to be near family. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Fulfer of Las Cruces, daughters, Debra June Fulfer of Dallas, Texas, Katherine Ann Fulfer Jones of Las Cruces, one granddaughter, Krystal Ann Jones of Las Cruces, one sister, Betty Anderson of California, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dennis and Janey Swope of Las Cruces, along with many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Opal and Hershell Fulfer and two of his sisters, Marjorie (Sis) Bullock and Barbara Higgins. Per his wishes he has been cremated and his ashes will be buried at Fort Bayard Cemetery in Silver City at a later date. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 15, 2021, at 2:00pm with Reverend Randall Floyd officiating. Service Information
