He was an avid hunter, enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. He had the greatest love for music. Demetrio "Pete" Esparza, 84 of Hatch, New Mexico passed away Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center, Las Cruces, NM. Born December 27, 1928 in Dona Ana, NM. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. He had the greatest love for music. There was never a moment he wasn't smiling, was loved by all and will be missed dearly by family and friends. He is survived by his wife Romie of 60 years, four children Martha Villegas, Arthur, wife Mary Esparza all of Hatch, NM, Gina Trujillo, husband David from Las Cruces, NM, Brenda Yaw, husband James from Eagle River, AK, twelve grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, three brothers Johnny from Albuquerque, NM, Bito and David from Hatch, NM and five sisters Felipa and Lupe from California, Pabla and Lucy from Hatch, NM and Petra from Deming, NM. He was preceded in death by parents Nieves and Beatriz Esparza, four brothers Pablo, Ignacio, Blas and Clemente, son-in-law Marty Villegas and grandson Chris Villegas. Services will be held at Our Lord of Mercy Catholic Church in Hatch, NM. Rosary, Tuesday February 5, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. and funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2013.
