His father served in the U. S. Air Force and the family lived in multiple locations in the United States as well as overseas. Dennis ultimately graduated from Bay County High School in Panama City, FL in 1956 where he continued to have many valued friendships with his classmates throughout his life. Dennis followed in his father's footsteps and served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force (1957-1961) and then just a few months after his discharge, he joined the U. S. Marine Corps where he earned a Purple Heart. He continued his education after his military service and received his Bachelor's degree from Pan American University in Edinburg, TX. Dennis' work experience ranged from Journeyman Plumber in Texas, to Property Management for Travel Lodge in Oregon and Texas, most recently Property Management for J's Enterprises in Las Cruces. After moving to Las Cruces with his wife Carol, he joined the New Mexico Mounted Patrol in 1987. He served as Sergeant 1990-1992 and First Lieutenant 1992-1996 before retiring in 1998. Dennis and Carol were avid bowlers in Las Cruces for many years. Dennis bowled a 300 in the Men's Bowling Association in 1996. He is survived by his brother Michael Kinsey Johnson and sister in law Elsa Johnson, nephew Michael Kinsey Johnson, Jr and nieces Michelle Arlene Johnson, Michael Elizabeth Cooper, among other family members and many cherished friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, beloved wife Carolyn Marie Radke, step daughter Shawna D. Jerome, sister Jacqueline K. Guerra and her husband Arnulfo Guerra, brother Robert Wendell Johnson and others. A special thank you to Azhar Zahir, MD, Michael Castillo, PA and their staff for the medical care they have provided to Dennis over the years and to the staff at Sagecrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the care they provided in the last few weeks of life.
