Dolores Alderete, "Lolita" as she was affectionately known, 63, of Las Cruces, NM died Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at her home surrounded by her family. Lolita was born May 19, 1945 in Las Cruces, NM to Mike and Christina Barela. She was a homemaker and a member of the Catholic Church. Dolores Alderete, "Lolita" as she was affectionately known, 63, of Las Cruces, NM died Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at her home surrounded by her family. Lolita was born May 19, 1945 in Las Cruces, NM to Mike and Christina Barela. She was a homemaker and a member of the Catholic Church. Lolita was an Angel here on earth, she took care of so many and loved so many. She is now an Angel in Heaven watching over us, as she always has. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Richard of Las Cruces; one son Richard Alderete, Jr and wife Daisy of Las Cruces; two daughters, Josie Sheldon and husband Rodney and Michelle Alderete and husband Mark all of Las Cruces. Also surviving are two brothers, Johnny Barela and wife Clorinda and Michael Barela Jr, as well as one sister, Rosie Barraza, all of Las Cruces. Dolores has eight grandchildren, Tabitha Sheldon, Richard Alderete III, Rachelle Alderete, Reanna Alderete, Robert Alderete, Mark Archer, Jasmine Angel, Julian Esparza, and one great grandson, Matthew Reyes. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Sunday, March 8, 2009 at Getz Funeral Home Chapel, where the Prayer Vigil will follow at 7 pm. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 10 am on Monday, March 9, 2009 at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church, 100 S. Espina. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery. Officiating will be Fr. Sean Garrity. Serving, as pallbearers will be, Richard Alderete Jr, Richard Alderete III, Rodney Sheldon, Lawrence Eres, Paul Barraza, and Johnny Barela. PDF Printable Version
