Donald A Nelson, 76 of Las Cruces died Saturday December 30th, 2006. He was born January 9th, 1930 in Guide Rock, Nebraska to his parents Charlie Nelson and Hilma Newman. In 1958 he moved from Iowa with his wife and two kids to Las Cruces where he had lived and worked for 46 years. Donald worked for Burn's Construction for 20 years until his retirement. Donald A Nelson, 76 of Las Cruces died Saturday December 30th, 2006. He was born January 9th, 1930 in Guide Rock, Nebraska to his parents Charlie Nelson and Hilma Newman. In 1958 he moved from Iowa with his wife and two kids to Las Cruces where he had lived and worked for 46 years. Donald worked for Burn's Construction for 20 years until his retirement. He was a jack of all trades, but his interest was working on air conditioners as a hobby. His friends referred to him as "The air-conditioner man" who never knew a stranger. He served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea in 1951-1953. Donald was clearly loved by is wife of 53 years Bernice M. Nelson; his son Keith Nelson of Colorado Springs, his daughter Jennifer Nelson-McCoy and her husband Robert McCoy of Las Cruces. Three grandchildren; Tamarah Nelson and her husband Jason Montoya of Las Cruces, Kristin and Megan Nelson of Denver, CO and his two great grandchildren who were the love of his life Zoe Montoya and Tyler Montoya of Las Cruces. His surviving sisters Linda Jones of Prole, Iowa and Karen Moffitt of Fort Dodge, Iowa. One brother Darold Nelson and his wife Yreva of Sealy, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Donald was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church for over 20 years. Cremation has taken place and a private memorial will be held on Friday January 5 , 2006 at Holy Cross Catholic Church. PDF Printable Version
