La Mesa Dora Perez was called to heaven on January 12, 2024. She died peacefully at Mesilla Valley Hospice surrounded by her loving family. She was 89 years old. Dora was born on June 4, 1934 to Toribio and Francisca Sanchez, in El Paso Texas. She attended school in the Gadsden School District. La Mesa Dora Perez was called to heaven on January 12, 2024. She died peacefully at Mesilla Valley Hospice surrounded by her loving family. She was 89 years old. Dora was born on June 4, 1934 to Toribio and Francisca Sanchez, in El Paso Texas. She attended school in the Gadsden School District. She married the love of her life Ramon Perez, and together they raised their two daughters. Dora raised them to be strong independent women. She knew the importance of an education, supported and encouraged her daughters to pursue a higher level of education.
Dora was a dedicated homemaker that loved to be in the kitchen preparing creative dishes for her family. She excelled in the preparation of tamales. She was a very lively person who enjoyed singing and dancing. Until the very end she attempted to move to her music.
Dora also enjoyed gardening and crocheting. She had a love of animals never turning away any stray cat or dog that came to her home. Dora fought a courage battle with dementia requiring constant care for the last five years of her life. Our sincere thanks go to Josie Andrade who assisted with her care until the end. Dora is proceeded in death by her husband, mother, father and many canine companions. Dora is survived by her daughters Yolanda Fields, Fayetteville Arkansas and Ermelinda Perez (Fermin) La Mesa and Rosie (canine companion).
Services will be held in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Anthony NM on Thursday January 25th. Viewing will commence at 9:30am, Rosary will begin and 10:30am followed by the funeral mass at 11:00am. Burial to follow at the Anthony Community Cemetery.
