Doris L. Quesenberry passed away on December 26, 2009 at her home in Las Cruces, NM from natural causes. Doris was born in Rossdorf, Silesia, Germany on October 17, 1928. She was one of three children born to Adolph and Anna Schara Labitzke. In her youth, Doris survived the hardships of wartime and acted as a strong family support for her mother and siblings. In her twenties, Doris met and fell in love with a handsome US Air Force Major, George R. Quesenberry, Jr. In 1951, she followed her heart to Las Cruces, where she married George and would spend the rest of her life working and raising a family. After obtaining her real estate license, Doris worked as the office manager with her husband George for Quesenberry Realty. Doris had a profound love of traveling and generously took her daughters and grandchildren on many unforgettable trips. Doris enjoyed baking, gardening, dancing, crossword puzzles and loved to swim. She also modeled locally for Jacqueline's Boutique and the Emerald Isle. More than anything, Doris found joy in being with her children and grandchildren and more recently, her great granddaughter, Sophia. She had an outgoing and exuberant personality that lead her to make friends wherever she went. Doris was preceded in death by her husband Col. George R. Quesenberry, her parents Adolph and Anna, as well as her sibling, Dr. Hermann Labitzke. She survived by her daughters Doris J. Quesenberry of San Francisco, California, and Susan Q. Brown (husband Steve), her grandchildren Justin Brown (wife Cindy) and their daughter Sophia, and Amanda Brown, and all of Las Cruces. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on January 2, 2010 at Getz Funeral Home located at 1410 East Bowman Avenue, Las Cruces, NM 88001. Following the memorial service, Doris' remains will be buried in the family plot at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Las Cruces, NM. Our dearest Mutti and Oma, we will miss you more than words can express. Ruhe in Frieden. PDF Printable Version
