Doris M. "RaRa" Simpson, 78, of Las Cruces, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006 surrounded by her family. She was born Nov. 24, 1927 in Philadelphia, PA, to Harry and Marie Shennon Miley. Doris had been a freelance dance instructor and teacher of Western Swing at NMSU and local clubs here in Las Cruces. She also loved to travel, was a great seamstress but her passion was for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. RaRa will be deeply missed by all her family and many friends who knew and loved her. She is survived by her son Frank Simpson and his wife Kay; daughters Linda Long and husband Bill, Sandy Mexal and husband Mark and Laurie Tittle and husband Kevin; brother Harry Miley and Bea; sister Marie Gallus and Bud. She is also survived by her grandchildren Chris Long and wife Linda, Shane Long, Molly Huey and husband Heath, Wendy and Stephanie Simpson, Patrick and Kate Mexal, Lauren and Megan Tittle and great-grandchildren Isabel and Olivia Lopez, Aidan and Presley Huey and Will Long. Mrs. Simpson was preceded in death by her loving husband Frank Simpson and her parents Harry (Pop) and Marie (Gamma) Miley. Burial of cremains will take place at 2:30 PM on Thursday Oct. 19, 2006 at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. A Memorial Service to celebrate Doris's life will be at 2:00 PM on Friday Oct. 20, 2006 at University United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. David Jones officiating.
