Dorothy Bernice Wheeler, 91 a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt entered eternal life with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on October 13, 2010 from her Golden Mesa apartment in Las Cruces, NM. Dorothy Bernice Wheeler, 91 a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt entered eternal life with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on October 13, 2010 from her Golden Mesa apartment in Las Cruces, NM. She was born December 15, 1918 in Roswell, NM to William Chester Van Doren and Kiney Hughes Van Doren. On October 10, 1937 she married Glen Clarence Wheeler, Jr. at her parent's home on 711 N. Richardson Street. She raised their two children on the James Stonewall Wheeler farm in East Grand Plains. She was a Grey Lady at Walker during WW II, volunteered for numerous civic organizations and served on the NM Welfare Board when Edwin Mechem was governor. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence and daughter, Suzie Storr of Santa Fe, NM. She is survived by her son Bill Wheeler and wife Mary Ann of Las Cruces, her son-in-law Neel Storr (Kay) of Santa Fe, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three nephews and eight nieces. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday October 22, 2010 at the Golden Mesa Retirement Center, 151 N Roadrunner Blvd, Las Cruces, NM 88011. The service will be lead by The Reverend Fernando Salazar of St. James Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gideon's International, Box 3217, Las Cruces, NM 88004.
