Eduvijes Alarcon Montes, 90, passed away July 5, 2015 at the NM State Veterans Home in T or C, NM. She was born Oct 16, 1924 in Santa Eulalia, Mexico to Encarnacion and Remejia Alarcon. Eduvijes was about six years old when she was taken in and raised by Frank Johnson and his family in Las Cruces, NM. On March 31, 1942 she married Miguel Montes in Las Cruces. "Edu" worked throughout her life as a cook in various places; Las Cruces public school cafeterias, a fraternity, Munson Center, diners, a cafeteria. She loved to cook and was always cooking and baking at her home, she made the best menudo of all! She and her husband, Miguel liked to travel a lot to Las Vegas casinos. Edu was a very generous person to all, always ready to help anyone. Eduvijes is survived by sons Peter Montes, Glendale, CA, Edward Montes and Lawrence Montes (Rita Jill) of Las Cruces; grandchildren Michael Montes and David Montes, Las Cruces, Peter Marc Montes and Alec Montes, Glendale, CA; 2 great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren; sisters Nellie Garcia, Kingsburg, CA and Julie Pantoja, Rosemead, CA and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, adopted father Frank Johnson, brothers Encarnacion Alarcon Jr., Edwardo Alarcon, Policarpio Alarcon and sister Andrea Guillien. Pallbearers are Michael Montes, David Montes, Ruben Alarcon, Alvin Banegas, Raymond Montes and Arthur Johnson. Visitation will be at 9:00 am Friday, July 10 at St. Genevie...
