Edward P. "Lalo" Lopez, 78, of Las Cruces died Monday, March 31, 2008. He was born Aug. 17, 1929 in Vado, NM to Silviano and Beatrice Pino Lopez. He was a veteran of the US Army where he served his country honorably. He also was retired from WSMR after many years of faithful service. Lalo enjoyed playing the guitar, telling stories but his passion was for watching the Price is Right...
Edward P. "Lalo" Lopez, 78, of Las Cruces died Monday, March 31, 2008. He was born Aug. 17, 1929 in Vado, NM to Silviano and Beatrice Pino Lopez. He was a veteran of the US Army where he served his country honorably. He also was retired from WSMR after many years of faithful service. Lalo enjoyed playing the guitar, telling stories but his passion was for watching the Price is Right. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends who knew and love him. Lalo is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Gloria Lopez of the family home; sons Edward Lopez and wife Sue, Andy Lopez and wife Maribel and Javier Lopez all of Las Cruces; daughters Teresa Lopez, Mary Starkey, Margaret Flores and Clara Lopez all of Las Cruces; sisters Julia Hernandez and husband Johnny and Frances Madrid of Las Cruces. Also surviving him are 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Lalo was preceded in death by his sister Beatrice Torres; son-in-law Mario Flores and brother-in-law Edward Parra. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Getz Funeral Home where a prayer service will follow at 7 PM. Funeral Service's to celebrate his life will be at 10 AM on Friday, April 4, 2008 also at Getz Funeral Home with Pastor Saul Gonzalez of Emmanuel Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers are Edward, Andy, Javier, Timothy and Jeremy Lopez, Nick and Amy Arenas and Christopher Flores.
