Elena "Helen" Rosales Nevarez, 63 passed away at Mountain View Regional Medical Center while surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 8th 2014. Helen was our dearly beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. Helen as she was fondly known by her friends and family is survived by her two daughters, Eileen Arvizu and husband Mark, Grace Telles and husband Ruben, son Frankie Nevarez and wife Cynthia. She is also survived by her sisters Esperanza Mendoza (Johnny), Corina Molina (Jesse), brothers Gonzalo Rosales (Nellie), Danny Rosales (Angie), Ricardo Rosales (Beverly), Sammy Rosales (Cheryl), and Gilbert Rosales. Surviving grandchildren are Diamond, Nathan, Jacob, Brooke, Ruben Jr., Destiny, Santino, Leonard, Jazzy, Marinna, and Gabriel. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Elena is preceded in death by her husband Esmael Nevarez, her parents Juanita and Gonzalo Rosales and son Gabriel. Elena was born in Las Cruces to Gonzalo and Juanita Rosales on May 10, 1950. Elena graduated from Mayfield High School in 1969 and soon after she married the love of her life Esmael "Billy" Nevarez and began a family. She dedicated 20 years of employment as a Dietary Assistant to Good Samaritan Village where she then retired. After retiring she stayed home to enjoy the presence of her loved ones. In 2004 the journey with her Wal-Mart family began as a people greeter. She always enjoyed meeting new people. Helen had the ability to touch so many lives with her positive energy and generous powerful hugs. She leaves behind the memories of traditional home cooked meals, and especially her famed tortillas at every gathering. Helen was special in that she was always able to ensure there was always more than enough food for everyone. She enjoyed poetry and saw beauty in everything she saw, and was particularly fond of the outdoors and nature in its entirety. "When you wake to the birds, feel the sun up against your skin, see a butterfly in the air, a familiar cloud above the sky, or a bright yellow flower always remember me." Pallbearers are Nathan Hollars, Jacob Nevarez, Nick Rosales, Ruben Telles, Javier Rosales and Sonny Molina with Diamond Medina as the honorary pallbearer. We the family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Mountain View Regional Medical Center Emergency Room, Intensive Care Unit, and Respiratory departments for taking great care of our mom. We would also like to extend a very special thank you to Kathleen Upp for your extra touch in getting us through this extremely hard time.
