Elizabeth C. Mackey, 85 of Las Cruces, NM died Saturday, November 3, 2007 at Mesilla Valley Hospice-La Posada. Elizabeth was born March 15, 1922 in San Patricio, NM to Candido and Estella Chavez. Elizabeth C. Mackey, 85 of Las Cruces, NM died Saturday, November 3, 2007 at Mesilla Valley Hospice-La Posada. Elizabeth was born March 15, 1922 in San Patricio, NM to Candido and Estella Chavez. She was retired from the food service industry in Ruidoso and had been a resident of Las Cruces for about the last six years. Elizabeth was a member of Saint Eleanor's Catholic Church in Ruidoso and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by two sons, Patrick Mackey and wife Connie of Snyder, TX and Andre Mackey and wife Linda of Ruidoso, NM. Two daughters, Jaylen Garland and husband Ed of Las Cruces, NM, and Sonja Crown and David Matier of Las Cruces, NM. Also surviving Elizabeth are three sisters, Willadene Barnes, Viola Stinett and Dorothy Torrez all of Roswell, NM; one brother Johnny Chavez of Tularosa, NM; eight grandchildren, Paulette Breeze, Charlie Graham, Kari Rangel, James Mackey, Elizabeth Mackey, Leonard Sanchez, Christopher Sanchez, and LaNette Woodworth; four great grandchildren, Stella Breeze, Cassidy Sanchez, Araceli Sanchez and Devon Sanchez, and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Pauline Sanchez, brothers, Candido Jr. and Clifford and sisters, Ethel Maez and Cecelia Romero. At Elizabeth's request cremation has taken place and a Memorial Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at Getz Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Fr. Don Adamski from Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine and Parish in Tortugas, NM.
