Elmira T. Torres, 92, of Las Cruces, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011. Mira as she was fondly known was born March 19, 1919 in Hatch, NM to Martin and Victoria Trujillo. She enjoyed the outdoors, walking, cooking and sewing but her passion was for her family where she attended to their every need. Mira will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Elmira T. Torres, 92, of Las Cruces, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011. Mira as she was fondly known was born March 19, 1919 in Hatch, NM to Martin and Victoria Trujillo. She enjoyed the outdoors, walking, cooking and sewing but her passion was for her family where she attended to their every need. Mira will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her children Rudy Torres and wife Becki of Gilbert, AZ, Martin Torres and wife Sue, Samuel Torres and wife Cindy, Arthur Torres and companion Gladys Parker and Racheal Hinojosa all of Fairacres, NM; grandchildren Laura, Alisha, Randy, Renee, David, Steven and Anthony; great-grandchildren Sapthira, Audrey, Angelic, Elias and Matthew. Mira was preceded in death by her loving husband Samuel F. Torres and by sisters Florina Provencio, Erminda Murphy and Corina Trujillo. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Friday, Sept. 30, 2011 at Getz Funeral Home where a prayer vigil will follow at 7 pm. Mira's funeral mass to celebrate her life will be at 10 am on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral with Fr. Michael Cerretto officiating. Rite of Committal will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. The honor of being a pallbearer goes to Randy DeLaO, Steven and Anthony Torres, Delivan Roper, Joe Terrazas, Rick Valdespino and David Hinojosa. Honorary Pallbearers are Archie Murphy, Dickie and Benny Chavarria. The Torres family wishes special thanks all caregivers for their love and care shown to our mother. PDF Printable Version
