Eloy or as so many lovingly called him: ElRoy, Leroy, Brown Bear, Barf or Eldy (just to list a few) loved to converse with everyone and took the time to listen and offer advice and encouragement. He was a real people person. He could remember names and faces and was told that he should run for Mayor. Eloy loved to tell jokes and he often told jokes complete with punch lines. He was a great cook and shared his recipes with his Son, Andrew to carry on his talent. Sundays were his favorite day, getting together with Andrew and his monkeys, Andrew Jr, Lucas, and Tiny to go fishing, reminding us that it wasn’t about catching fish, it was just about fishing. He loved grilling and listening to oldies and of course to watch, sometimes painfully, the Vikings play. He never had a passing thought to trade teams. Eloy had a great devotion to St. Anthony. If you couldn’t find something he would say “ask St. Anthony to help you” and many times you would find what you were looking for. Eloy was faithful and charitable throughout his life. In the weeks leading up to the Sunday morning that our Lord would visit him and call him home, he became more faithful and charitable, drawing strength from the Word of God, prayer, and the Holy Eucharist. Having drawn more closely to the Lord gave him peace. Eloy would say “I’m an Immaculate Boy”, so we will celebrate his life at Immaculate Heart of Mary where he will be placed in the columbarium between his brother, Michael and his sisters: Angie and Patty. Our many thanks to the countless hearts and hands that cared for Eloy and for the many prayers, gifts and phone calls that helped carry Eloy and our family through his illness. We are thankful for God’s great love and mercy. Eloy, we love you and miss you…
