It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Our Mother, Grandmother, and Friend SRA. Elva Martinez (Garcia). Elva was born on February 3, 1936 to Juan and Andrea (Chavez) Martinez in Torreon, Chihuahua, Mexico. Elva was a lifelong resident of Las Cruces and was a member of Our Lady of Health Catholic Church. She retired from Holiday Inn after 21 years. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Joe and wife Nancy Garcia, Yolanda Garcia, Socorro Lara Garcia and partner Robert, Robert and wife Nancy Garcia, Mary Garcia and partner Frank. Jessie Gonyea Garcia, Frankie and wife Yvette Garcia. She was a very much loved grandmother to 25 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 18 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her mother Andrea Martinez Chavez, brother Ruben Martinez, sister Carmen Franco Martinez, husband Enrique L. Garcia, sons Richard Garcia and Enrique Garcia Jr., grandson Timothy Patrick Garcia, great grandsons Arturo Garcia, and Jeremiah Gael Canalas. "She was always thought of as loving, caring and very inviting to new friends of her children or anyone she met. She always had a smile for every day. We Love you Mama"- Joe. "My mama was everyone's mom, grandma, and friend. Even if they weren't her biological kids"-Yolanda. "Everyone called her mama, my partner, my best friend" -Socorro. "Mom showed me the true meaning of unconditional love." She said "No fault in anyone"- Robert. "My mom was always there for me and my kids"-Mary. "Momma always gave the best advice on life." When I grow old, "I want to be just like her, a generous soul, loving spirit and a heart open to everyone." Love you, Jessie. "Mom, I want you to know that I love you. You always had the answers and direction for all we needed. Your love and strength can never be replaced. My heart is happy and sad today but my love and strength to carry on are never ending."
