There the two cultivated grain between Pendleton and Echo for many years. Elvera served as librarian at the church for a number of years. Upon their retirement, the two settled in Eugene, OR and became members of the Bethesda Lutheran Church. After the passing of her husband of 34 years, Elvera moved to Louisville, Kentucky where her oldest daughter lives. She became an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. In 2010 Elvera moved to a Care Center in Las Cruces where her youngest daughter lives.
