She was born May 26, 1948 in Morenci, Arizona to Roman and Genevieve Romero. Elvira was a Quality Assurance Inspector and retired from Hughes Aircraft Ground Systems. Elvira Romero, 59 of Tortugas, NM went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born May 26, 1948 in Morenci, Arizona to Roman and Genevieve Romero. Elvira was a Quality Assurance Inspector and retired from Hughes Aircraft Ground Systems. She was a very loving, giving, compassionate and caring person and was always ready to help anyone that needed her. She will be dearly missed by all her family and those who knew and loved her. Her hobbies consisted of cooking, baking and spending time with her dog Conan. " Vera" as she was fondly known by many, was a devoted Christian who was very much into the Lord. She is survived by one son James R. Romero of Las Cruces, NM, one brother Carlos Romero (Susan) of Las Cruces, NM, and three sisters, Mary Margaret Frias of Las Cruces, Romanita Dolores Romero and Martha L Romero of Tortugas, NM. Also surviving her is one grandson, James R Romero Jr. and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roman and Genevieve Romero, two brothers, Robert and Arturo Romero, and one nephew, Martin Anthony Romero. . Per Elvira's request, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Mass will be at 9 AM on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine and Parish in Tortugas with burial of her cremains to follow at the Tortugas Cemetery.
