Emeterio "Guero" Tinajero, 78, of Mesquite, New Mexico died Saturday, February 10, 2018. Guero was born November 7, 1939 in Vado, New Mexico to Claudio and Nicolasa Tinajero. He attended Gadsden High School, and loved to play baseball. In 1963 at the age of 23 he was drafted into the US Army, where he served his country proudly. In 1970 he met and married the love of his life Socorro, together they had three children. Guero was a man of many trades, working in carpentry, plumbing, and tile. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He worked at Legg's (Sara Lee Hosiery) for 16 years, until the plant closed in 1996. He decided he would retire, but changed his mind quickly and went to work for Silva Sanitation for 3 years and then Anthony Senior Center for 3 years. After retiring from there, he decided he would complete his education and received his GED in 2009. He also picked up playing pool as a hobby. He spent many Wednesdays with his friends at the local community centers around the valley and in Las Cruces, playing pool and winning tournaments. He enjoyed teaching his granddaughters baseball and taking them to the dollar store. Guero is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Socorro, son, Oscar(Michelle) of Las Cruces, daughter Veronica (Jesus) of Las Cruces. His grandchildren Danielle, Alexis, Christina, Marissa, and Christina Oleander. Great-grandchildren include, Athena, Andres, Gustavo, and Idalia. Brothers Abran (Maggie) Tinajero of Mesquite, NM, Frank (Gloria) Tinajero of Tucson, AZ, Sisters, Lilia Ontiveros of Mesquite,NM, and Ramona Ramos of Porterville, CA. Also surviving him are numerous nieces and nephews. Guero is preceded in death by his parents, Claudio and Nicolasa Tinajero, his first born son, Clemente Tinajero, and sister, Consuelo Rivera. A Visitation is scheduled for Friday, February 16, 2018 from 5-7 PM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Mesquite, with the recitation of the Rosary at 7 PM. The Funeral Liturgy is scheduled for Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 10 am at Our Lady Of Perpetual Help, with burial to follow at Missionary Ridge Cemetery. The family of Mr. Tinajero would like to thank Dr. Constance Wash and her staff, Dr. Pavia, Ambercare Hospice, Caroline, Maria, Amanda, and Fr.Narciso Rivera for all of their support.
