Emilia Alatorre Lopez With heavy hearts we announce that Emilia Alatorre Lopez, who was cherished by her family, departed this world on June 11th, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Emilia was born in La Mesa, NM on April 5th, 1943 to Isidro and Lydia Alatorre. Emilia lived 79 beautiful years as a strong, independent and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all. As a full time homemaker and mother, Emilia was known for her extraordinary cooking skills. Her hobbies included cooking, baking, tending to her flowers, sewing and doing all she could for family and friends. Her greatest pride was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved them with all her heart and always talked about them to anyone who would listen. Emilia always opened her home to host large family gatherings and cookouts. She was a profound mother figure to all of her grandchildren and gave them a second home where they could grow and play. Emilia left the family with many happy memories. She is survived by her six children Lydia Martinez (Ronnie), Luis Lopez (Martha), Armando Lopez (Sheryl), Ramon Lopez, Jr (Rosanne), Suzanne Lopez and Leticia Sanchez (Jeremy). In addition to her 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, Emilia is also survived by her brother Luz Alatorre and her sisters Emma Alatorre, Angie Willson and Lupe Ortega. Emilia was preceded in death by Isidro Alatorre (father), Lydia Alatorre (mother), her husband Ramon T. Lopez, brothers, Francisco Z. Alatorre, Robert Z. Alatorre, Juan Alatorre and Isidro Alatorre, Jr. and her sisters, Minnie Lucero Sealock, Frances Zamora Cruz, Roasenda Alatorre Ortega and Anita Alatorre Jacquez and grandchild, Luther Garcia. Rosary and Mass Services will be held at Our Lady of Purification Church in Dona Ana on Thursday, June 30th at 10:30 A.M. Immediately following the mass, interment will take place at the Dona Ana Cemetery where Emilia will be laid to rest with her husband Ramon. The family extends sincere appreciation and gratitude to the nurses, physicians and caretakers at Mesilla Valley Hospice and Heritage House Assisted Living for their kind and gentle care of our beloved mother.
