Emma Medlock Panske Phillips, "Emmy," passed away on December 31, 2020 in Las Cruces, New Mexico at the age of 88. She was born in El Paso, TX on October 6, 1932. She was preceded in death by her only child, beloved son, Irving "Chuck" Youngjohn III in 2014 and by her husband of 37 years, David A. Panske in 2003 as well as her sister Louise, brother Jerry and their parents. In 2004 Emma married a longtime friend, Luther Phillips, and moved to Carlsbad, then Las Crucess. She is survived and was treasured by her daughter-in-law, granddaughter Julie, three Phillips step-children, two nieces, four nephews and various cousins and their many children. Emmy was a Real Estate Broker in Chaparral from 1986-2007. She will be remembered for her compassion and love for animals. Her hobby was raising and showing dogs and she was active in the kennel clubs in the area for many years. Homeless dogs found sanctuary with her and lived the same life as her show dogs. She loved them all. Active in genealogy, she published "Quisas Manana, Perhaps Tomorrow" in 2007, based on the family's migration from Louisiana to Mexico, then settling in El Paso in 1906-1910. She was working on another book with pictures to share many family stories. She had also published one romance novel, "Wager on Love" in 2020 and was working on its sequel. She will be mourned by many friends and relatives. A simple private ceremony will take place in Chaparral where she will be placed between her husband Dave and her son. In lieu of flowers feel free to make a donation to Mesilla Valley Hospice and/or Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary. Arrangements by Getz Funeral Home, 1410 E. Bowman Ave. Las Cruces, NM 88001.
