Enoch Moseley Baca, age 79, a long time resident of Caballo, NM, passed away Monday, May 24, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Society of Las Cruces, NM. He was born on 9/9/1930 in Rodey, N.M. as the first born child of Ida Belle and Elfego Baca. Enoch was a decorated veteran of the Korean War. In the Korean war Enoch earned a Battlefield commission of Lieutenant, 3 Silver stars, a Bronze star and 2 Purple Hearts for His bravery and heroic actions on the battlefield. Following service to his country, he chose law enforcement as his lifetime career. He was a Sherriff's Deputy and U.S. Marshall in New Mexico, Texas, and Arkansas. He had a "Cowboy way of life" with a true passion for animals, especially horses. Many will miss his great sense of humor, determination and many wonderful stories of life. Enoch is survived and will be dearly missed by the following immediate family members: a brother, Errol Baca of Las Cruces; two sons, Bob Baca and Richard Baca both of Las Cruces; two daughters, Diana Tatu of Fresno, CA and Stacy Baca of Denver CO; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Enoch also is survived by numerous Nieces, Nephews and cousins in Las Cruces, NM, Socorro, NM, Mountainair/La Joya NM, Albuquerque, NM, Encinitas, CA, Hesperia CA and Gretna NE. We would be remiss if we didn't also mention his horse "SNUFFY", dog "BOOBOO" and cat "SMOKEY". Memorial and funeral services will be provided by Getz funeral Home at 1410 E. Bowman Ave. (corner of Bowman and Solano). Family and friends may attend the visitation and pay their last respects on Tuesday, June 1, 2010; from 5 to 7 PM. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at Getz Funeral Home and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial gardens Cemetery. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation to any Veterans fund or foundation or any organization for the protection and care of Horses, be made in Enoch's name. Pallbearers will be Bob Baca, Henry Gene O'Neil, Jason Klima, Christian Klima, Jason Walker and Jack Nevarez. Honorary Pallbearers include Errol Baca, Richard Baca, Cody James Woolf and Fredrick G.
