Ernestine Holman Brooks 75, of Las Cruces, NM went to be with her heavenly father on Wednesday August 8, 2012. She was born March 3, 1937 to Ernest Holman & Pearlie Warren Holman in Forth Worth, Texas. Moved to Los Angeles Ca. as a young child, and accepted Christ in her teen years. After High School she graduated from San Jose, City College with an Associate's degree. She married her high school sweetheart Clarence Dixon Pollard, Sr. (deceased) on July 31, 1956 they had 5 children. Her husband joined the U.S. Air force and they travel to various places in the U.S. and overseas. They settled in San Jose, California where she was a stay at home wife and mother. She joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. She later went back to night school, while working days to study electronics, after completion she work for over 29 years for Eaton Electronics in Silicon Valley. She retired in 1998. She was a proud member of the Eastern Star for many years and travel extensively with the organization until her health got in the way. In 1999 she married Rev. William T. Brooks (deceased) and moved to Modesto, Ca. where again she stayed home and raised her Step-daughter and two of her Granddaughters. There she joined Christ Unity Baptist church where she served on various committees; mission dept, women's bible study, Sunday school and overseer of the girls Praise team. Her hobbies where; cooking, sewing, shopping and counseling/encouraging her family at all times. And never missed an opportunity to witness to anyone about her God₦.she revered to him as "The Man upstairs" she had 5 children; son Clarence D. Pollard, Jr. (deceased) wife Barbara-Gail, daughter- LaTricia A. Lynch,( husband Al), son-Charles A. Pollard, daughter-Pearllynne Quinley, son-Victor Pollard, step-daughter-Brandy Pollard Singleton(husband Marcus). 9 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren. Aunt & Uncle-Elbert and Margie Brown, Elk Grove, Ca. and a host of relatives and friends in California and Forth worth, Texas. Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday August 17, 2012 at Bethel Second Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Arthur officiating. burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
