Esperanza P. Trujillo

Eperanza "Hope" Parra Trujillo, 84,died on Thursday, April 23, 2009, at her home in Las Cruces. Hope was born on December 18,1924 to Higinia Parra in Central, New Mexico. She was adopted and raised by Jesus and Sara Parra of Central, where she grew up with her dearest friend/sister, Juanita Parra Holguin, and where she met her future husband, Glaris O. Trujillo. Glaris and Hope married in Central on June 21, 1947, and they had three beautiful daughters, Virginia (Jean), Genevieve, and Linda. In 1954, the Trujillo family moved to Las Cruces, where Hope devoted her life to raising the children and creating a wonderful home life for her husband and the girls. Hope was a devout Christian. She was always cheerful and had an infectious giggle and "Mona Lisa" smile. Hope is survived by her three daughters, Virginia Collins, and her husband, Edward, of Las Cruces; Genevieve Trujillo and her companion, Marla Black, of Las Cruces; Linda Acosta, and her husband, Robert, of Las Cruces; seven grandchildren, Janine Turnbull of Roswell, Emily Ortiz, and her husband Tom, of Albuquerque; Lisa Estell and Phillip of Las Cruces; Kathy Ledesma and her husband, Julian, of Las Cruces; David Acosta and Wife Adrienne, of Albuquerque; James Collins and companion Augie Aldas of El Paso; Kimberly and companion David Rodriguez of Las Cruces; She also is survived by eight great grandchildren, Colette, Mateo, Ashton, Ashley, Andrew Acosta, Abbey, Alexander, Andrew Estell, and Sophie of Las Cruces; her sister and brother-in-law, Juanita and Arthur Holguin, of Las Cruces; and several nephews, nieces, cousins, and sister- and brother-in-laws, most of whom live in New Mexico. Hope was preceded in death by her husband, who died on March 1,1990. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at Getz Funeral Home where a rosary will follow at 7 PM. Hope's Funeral Mass will be at 10 AM on Wednesday, April 29 2009 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine and Parish, 3600 Parroquia Street, Tortugas, NM with Fr. Don officiating. Rite of Committal will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. James Collins, David Acosta, Tom Ortiz, David Rodriguez, Robert Holguin, and Julian Ledesma will serve as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers are Terry Trujillo, Johnny Trujillo, Barney Trujillo, Tommy Garcia, Gilbert Parra and James Parra. In lieu of flowers send donations to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Tortugas in memory of Esperanza "Hope" Trujillo. PDF Printable Version
