Ester Reyna Madrid, 67 Sunrise: Las Cruces, New Mexico, January 1st, 1956- Sunset: El Paso, Texas, May 16, 2023.Ester Reyna Madrid departed our earthly word to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on May 16th, 2023. Ester was an avid and passionate woman whose presence lit up a room and warmed hearts. Her love for her family, pets, and community couldn't be out matched. She loved to cook, especially for others. You never left her home with an empty stomach or without a plate to go. If you were in need, she fulfilled it the best she could. If you hurt, she comforted you. Caring for others was her life's calling. Ester made the community of Las Cruces her priority after retiring from the Leggs Manufacturing plant in Las Cruces. She would lobby with and for local representatives, council members, or state representatives to keep Las Cruces moving forward. She would also help with the distribution of food boxes as local community centers, her favorite being the Butterfield Community center, in the community she grew up in. Ester was a proud New Mexican, Las Crucian, mother, and grandmother. She was proud of her sons, Daniel and Albert. She always was eager to share their accomplishments with anyone and everyone who she encountered and would listen. She boasted how beautiful and smart her granddaughters were as she showed pictures of them. Ester was a woman who loved football. She was loyal to two teams: The NMSU Aggies and San Francisco 49ers. She cheered for them through the good and the ugly. She wasn't shy about showing her support. She would be the loudest in the crowd in support, as well in disgust. She also was a proud supporter and alumni of Mayfield High. Ester was survived by her two sons Daniel (Lorraine) Reyna, Albert (Roberta) Madrid Jr, granddaughters Destiny, Angelina, Juliana, and Kataleya; siblings, Frank (Rosie) Reyna, Toms (Mary) Reyna, Linda Reyna, Estella (Trent) Reyna, Arturo Reyna, and her beloved Barbara Reyna. She was survived by numerous nephews and nieces, all of whom she loved dearly. She was especially fond of her niece, Priscilla Reyna Madrid, and nephew, Frank (Frankie) Reyna Jr, both of whom, were the first to make her a "tia", and whom she cared for when they were young. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Jose Encarnacin and Bertha (Guzmn) Reyna, siblings Daniel Reyna, Dolores Monsivis, Ricardo (Richard) Reyna Sr., Albert Reyna, and niece Tammy Reyna. She was also preceded in death by her "fur-babies" Sissy, Poncho, Gordo, JJ, Frida, and hear biggest baby, Snoopy.
