Eulogia M. Garcia, 92, of Las Cruces, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012. "Elo" or "Chata" as she was fondly known was born March 11, 1919 in Anthony, NM to Pedro and Brijida Chavarria Madrid. She had been a member of the Catholic community all of her life. Eulogia M. Garcia, 92, of Las Cruces, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012. "Elo" or "Chata" as she was fondly known was born March 11, 1919 in Anthony, NM to Pedro and Brijida Chavarria Madrid. She had been a member of the Catholic community all of her life. She enjoyed the outdoors, working in her garden, sewing and had taught Catechism to many children, but her passion was for her grandchildren. Mrs. Garcia will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her son Ernest Garcia and wife Victoria of Las Cruces; daughters Josie Banegas and husband Leo of Las Cruces and Mikki Shive of Santa Fe, NM; brother George Cruz and sister Alice Mendoza and husband John all of El Paso, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren Melissa (Missy), Lenny (Jena), Michael (Libby), Jamie, Danny, Amy (Jason)and Amanda (Fernando) and by her great-grandchildren Fernando, L.J., Josiah, Jadyn and Gabriella. Eulogia was preceded in death by her loving husband Ernest Garcia, brothers Pete and Mike and Sisters Ramona, Eleanor and Librada. A Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 am on Monday, Feb. 6, 2012 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral with her funeral mass to follow at 10:00 am. Rite of Committal will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The honor of being a pallbearer goes to members of her family. PDF Printable Version
