Our beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, Eva H. Benavidez, 96, of Tortugas, entered eternal life Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Rita B. Our beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, Eva H. Benavidez, 96, of Tortugas, entered eternal life Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Rita B. Baca and Juan Hernandez on December 21, 1914 in Tortugas, N.M. She was a homemaker for most of her life and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine and Parish. She enjoyed spending her time reading her Bible and when she wasn't reading, she could be found outdoors enjoying her day in the yard. She touched the lives of each of our family members and left us with special memories that we will cherish and pass on for many generations. She was always a person who was gracious and gave back to all. Even in the last week of her life, she continued to thank each of her family members for taking care of her during her ailment. Reaching out for our hands as she said "I love you", she looked into our eyes and gave us a gracious smile or wink. Those left to mourn her passing include her daughter, Isabel B. Jaime, preceded in death by her husband Manuel Jaime, son, Robert H. Benavidez and his wife Antonia, and daughter, Rita Angie Acey and her brother Gonzalo Hernandez. Other survivors include 11 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren and multiple nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ramon J. A prayer service will follow at 6 PM also in the Getz Chapel. The funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine and Parish at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 29, 2011. The rite of committal will follow at the Tortugas Cemetery, in Tortugas, New Mexico. Pallbearers include Juan Reyes, Edward Callahan, David Benavidez, Rick Benavidez, Ramon Benavidez III, and Sammy Benavidez.
