Everett Lyndon Harvell, age 98, of Las Cruces, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2015. Everett Lyndon Harvell was born to Everett Lee and Hattie Harvell on March 20, 1917 near Ratcliff, Arkansas. He moved to Las Cruces, NM in 1959 as an employee of White Sands Missile Range. He retired from the Generator Utility Section, at WSMR in 1975. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, he served in the 323rd Regiment of the 81st Infantry "Wildcat" Division in the Pacific Theatre. He was awarded the Purple Heart, and the Bronze Star Medal. He was a member of Mesilla Park Community Church; a lifetime member of the VFW Post 10124; a former member of the Big Band Dance Club and a member of the Saturday night Swinging Seniors Dance. He loved to dance, garden and work on cars, he was an excellent auto-mechanic. He was a kind compassionate and generous man who loved his family and Jesus. He is survived by his daughter Lynda Swain and husband Melvin of Las Cruces, daughter Ruby Lovelace of Tulsa, OK, granddaughter Wendy Reyes and husband Pete of Las Cruces, grandson J. Allan Zimmerman and wife Selena of Chandler, AZ, grandson Rian Zimmerman and wife Wendy of McAllen, TX, 8 other grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 3 great, great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Volene Harvell of Ft. Smith, AR, his cousin Max Harvell of Chrarleston, AR and numerous nieces and nephews of Arkansas, Georgia and California, Texas and his special friend, Betty McCaslin of Las Cruces. He is preceded in death by his parents, Everett L. And Hattie Harvell, his wife Jewell (Avance) Harvell; one daughter, Carlene (Harvell) Rupe; Grandson J. Keith Rupe; three brothers, Clinton Cole Harvell, Clifton Harvell and wife Katie Harvell, and Rex Lee Harvell. A visitation for Everett will take place on Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at Getz Funeral Home, from 5:00P.M. To 7:00P.M. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, October 15, 2015, at Getz Funeral Home, at 2:00PM with burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. PDF Printable Version
