Exiquio S. Lopez, 97 of Mesilla, NM. Passed away on Saturday Feb. 27, 2021 surrounded by his family. Papi as he was fondly known was born in Mexico on Nov. 18, 1923. He was a very kind, gentle and honest man. He loved his family and always put their interest first and formost. Exiquio S. Lopez, 97 of Mesilla, NM. Passed away on Saturday Feb. 27, 2021 surrounded by his family. Papi as he was fondly known was born in Mexico on Nov. 18, 1923. He was a very kind, gentle and honest man. He loved his family and always put their interest first and formost. Papi was retired from NMSU after many years of faithful service and after retirement he liked working with his pecan trees, his yard and tinkering in his garage with whatever little project that came up. Mr. Lopez is survived by his wife Inez Lopez of the family home. Daughters Rosa M. Lopez of La Mesa, NM, Esther M Lopez of Las Cruces and Bertha Vasquez of Albuquerque, NM. . Also surviving him are many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and by many many nieces, nephews and cousins. Papi was preceded in death by his first wife Cruz Morales Lopez, 2 sons Manuel Lopez and Exiquio Lopez Jr., a granddaughter who was his shining light Vanessa M. Gonzalez and by many other family members. Also by his faithful companion for many years his little dog Muneca. Service are scheduled for Monday, March 8, 2021 beginning at 9:30 am with a viewing, 10:30 am rosary followed by 11:00 am mass at The Basilica of San Albino.
