It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our most beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, Fern Melissa Blood, 56, after a battle with illness. It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our most beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, Fern Melissa Blood, 56, after a battle with illness. Melissa was born in Rock Springs, Wyoming on January 7, 1968 and is survived by her mom and dad, Fern and Rafael Zubiate, six sisters and two brothers, countless nieces and nephews, and her dearest friends. Missi was a second mom to her younger sisters, family members, and friends. Every child gravitated to her because of her loving and kind spirit.
Melissa was brilliant in many ways; technology, computer programming, and loved to talk about current events. Her many hobbies included all things related to technology, reading, watching football as a 30-year member of the Bills Mafia, baking, crafts, and recently drawing and painting. She had a jewelry business where she designed and handmade each piece with love and attention. Melissa was a Systems Administrator and worked for various government agencies and contracts for over twenty years, and earned a Bachelor’s in Software Engineering.
Melissa radiated kindness and had an infectious smile. She touched the lives of all who knew her in deeply unique and personal ways. Her friends are spread from coast to coast and she will be remembered for her generosity, sense of humor, and true selflessness. For her closest family and friends, she will be remembered for her creativity, smile, conversations, and as our biggest champion. We will miss her and our lives will never be the same.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Friday, February 2nd, 2024 at Getz Funeral Home.
