Ferne C. Walling, 89 of Las Cruces, NM died Thursday June 25, 2009. She was born on June 24, 1920 in Floydada, TX to Olin and Vivian Fry. In 1940 Ferne married her husband Craig E. Walling. Ferne C. Walling, 89 of Las Cruces, NM died Thursday June 25, 2009. She was born on June 24, 1920 in Floydada, TX to Olin and Vivian Fry. In 1940 Ferne married her husband Craig E. Walling. After moving to Las Cruces, NM in 1957, Ferne worked as a teacher for the Las Cruces Public Schools retiring after 20 years as an educator at Valley View Elementary. She was an active member of the University Church of Christ for over 50 years. She is survived by her son, Craig and wife Becky Walling of Farmington, NM, Grandchildren, Ezra and wife Amanda Walling of San Angelo, TX, Mike and wife Raquel Walling of Rio Rancho, NM, Kelly and wife Amy of Indio, CA, Josh Walling of Springfield, MO, and great grandchildren, Anthony, Calebe, Emma, Addie, and Garrett. She is preceded in death by her husband Craig, and her son Gary Walling and grandson Ben Walling. Friends and family will gather Monday, July 6, 2009 from 5 to 7 PM at Getz Funeral Home. Ferne's Funeral Service will be Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 10 AM at University Church of Christ with pastor Dean Peugh officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Craig, Mike, Kelly, Josh, Ezra and Jim Walling In Lieu of Flowers donations in Ferne's name to San Jaun College Foundation Gary and Ben Walling Memorial Scholarship 4601 College Blvd Farmington, NM 87402.
