Florene Allen known as Flo to her friends and family left this earth at Mesilla Valley La Posada on Monday, July 6, 2009. She was born in Watertown, Tennessee, Wilson County, on October 8, 1929, to Fate and Lellie Octava Oakley. She graduated from Watertown High School in the 1940's. Florene Allen known as Flo to her friends and family left this earth at Mesilla Valley La Posada on Monday, July 6, 2009. She was born in Watertown, Tennessee, Wilson County, on October 8, 1929, to Fate and Lellie Octava Oakley. She graduated from Watertown High School in the 1940's. She married her high school sweetheart, Jim Eli Allen, on May 18, 1947. She worked for many years as a secretary in Civil Service and was cited for outstanding performance in the 1950's. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim, her parents, and a brother and sister. Her surviving family members include a nephew Billy Williams and his wife Betty of Lebanon, Tennessee; a brother-in-law Hugh Allen and his wife Chris, also of Lebanon, Tennessee; a sister-in-law, Erma L. Wilson of Virginia Beach, Virginia, plus several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her good friends Joy and Dave Schuhmann of Las Cruces, New Mexico; Larry, Debra, and Michael Blevins of Las Cruces, Lydia Torres of Las Cruces, and Carleton and Sue Ann Talbot of Canutillo, Texas. Mrs. Allen's remains are to be cremated and joined with her husband's cremains and scattered over Elephant Butte Lake, where she and Jim enjoyed many retirement years. Flo will be missed by her friends and family. Their blessings go with her as she begins a new journey. To honor Florene's memory, contributions may be made to Mesilla Valley Hospice at 299 E.
