Fox Junior Crowson, a self-made man and farmer, who truly lived the "American Dream" was born in Fillmore, Oklahoma to Lillian and Fox Crowson on May 27, 1924, and passed away at his home on January 17, 2010. His father died of typhoid fever when he was very young and he was raised by his mother on a farm in the Fillmore community and attended Fillmore schools. His mother instilled in her children a wonderful work ethic which was to remain with Fox all of his life. On January 14, 1942, Fox married his life partner Audrey. He grew up in the "Great Depression" and came to the Mesilla Valley in 1942 with his wife. They settled in the Mesquite/La Mesa area and through hard work and the grace of God, they accumulated many farms. He made many lasting improvements to the lands he acquired. He loved the land and was an excellent farmer, businessman and steward of all of his lands. Fox loved his family, home, neighbors, and farms. He was a member of the Mesquite Baptist Church, and New Mexico Farm & Livestock Bureau. Fox is preceded in death by his wife Audrey, daughter Jeanett, his mother and father, and sisters Nalma Osborne, Neva Lovett, and Maudlee Allen, and great granddaughter Whitney. Surviving are his sons, Freeland (Tina) of Broddus, Texas and his children Kellie, Shawn, Shannon, and Jackie; and Tommy of Phoenix, Arizona and his children TJ, and Jaree; 13 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and one sister, Alma Fox of Mesilla Park, NM. Many surviving nieces and nephews will remember him as a friend and serious competitor in many forty-two games they played with him. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 from 5-7pm. His funeral will be held at Getz Funeral Home, 1410 E. Bowman Ave. Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 10:00 am with Rev. Steve Griffen officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons Shaun Crowson, Shannon Crowson, TJ Crowson, Jackie Crowson, and great grandsons Trentton Williams and Chandler Crowson.
