Frank N. Smith, 86, of Las Cruces and formerly of Santa Fe, NM died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008. He was born Nov. 9, 1921 in Cedarvale, NM to William and Nora Smith. Frank was a veteran of the US Army where he served his country honorably during WW II receiving the Purple Heart and spending 10 months in the hospital in North Africa. Frank N. Smith, 86, of Las Cruces and formerly of Santa Fe, NM died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008. He was born Nov. 9, 1921 in Cedarvale, NM to William and Nora Smith. Frank was a veteran of the US Army where he served his country honorably during WW II receiving the Purple Heart and spending 10 months in the hospital in North Africa. While in the service he was awarded the Purple Heart and had spent 10 months in a hospital in North Africa. He was retired from Q-west and Mountain Bell with more than 30 years of faithful service. Frank had been a member of the VFW of Santa Fe; he enjoyed the outdoors and golfing. He will be deeply missed by all his family and many friends who knew and loved him. Frank is preceded in death by his loving wife whom he married on Dec. 19, 1943, Doris Dean McCloud; he is survived by; son William Morris Smith and wife Alleen of Santa Fe, NM; daughter Sue Lyn Smith and husband Charles Otero of Las Cruces; grandchildren Chris Otero and Jennifer, Kim Otero Neal and Lyn, Keith Smith and Rebecca and Rebecca Elmore and Chuck and by 8
